What is PureWick System and How Do I Use It?

Using the PureWick System

The PureWick system is a non-invasive urinary management system designed for female patients who have difficulty using traditional bedpans, urinary catheters, or have incontinence issues. It consists of a soft and flexible external catheter, which is made of a soft material that resembles a feminine hygiene product, and a suction device that draws the urine into a storage canister.

To use the PureWick system, a healthcare professional places the external catheter between the patient's labia and connects it to the suction device via a tubing system. The suction device draws the urine into the storage canister, which can be emptied and disposed of when full.

The PureWick system is intended for short-term use and is not recommended for patients who are not able to change positions or those with conditions that may interfere with the suction device's performance. It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and maintain proper hygiene to prevent infection or irritation. It is best to consult with a healthcare professional before using the PureWick system to interact with. Your feedback will help us improve.
